Clarington "Applefest" Tournament - CHAMPIONSHIP GAME
Georgina Golden Hawks Midget B win silver medal after advancing to the Championship game against Peterborough Ice Kats.
In the round robin play the undefeated Peterborough squad scored with 2 minutes left in the game to beat the HAWKS 1-0. The teams were very competitive.
In the Championship game it was the HAWKS that got out of the gate first when Mariah scored on her break away 4 minutes in.
Then the wheels feel off. Georgina took 7 penalties (some undeserving) and the Ice KATS capitalized with 3 power play goals over a 6 and half minute span. The HAWKS played the last 3 minutes with the net empty but couldn't close the gap.
Georgina performed well only losing to the Champions.
MVP of the tournament for Georgina was Christine who gave 100% contributing at both ends of the ice.
