In game #3 the Hawks were up against 1st place Oakville Hornets.   A close game was anticipated as the two teams met in the Kitchener Tourney where the Hornets scored in the last 5 minutes to tie the Hawks 1-1.

The MVP of the day was Coach Derek DICEMAN who gave a speech remanicent to giving thanks at Thanksgiving going around the room and telling the girls what he thinks about each one of them.   The perfect touch after a disappointing collapse in game #2.

As a result of North York drawing evan with Keene in their third game Georgina need a tie or win to advance.   A loss would of depended on the ratio to advance.

The Hawks came flying out of the gate.  15 Seconds into the game Beth picked up a helper when Christine went 5 hole. 1-0 Georgina.    The HAWKS made a quick line change and 38 seconds later Brit scored to give Georgina their second goal in 53 seconds.   After another quick line change Natalie B dangled through Oakville and almost captured a third.  Georgina took a 2-0 lead into the second period.

A minute and a half into the 3rd Brit spun in the slot with 4 players on her.  The puck sat open and was knocked in for what we thought was a 3-0 lead.   Goal denied, refs lost sight of the puck.

A few seconds later Oakville captured their first to narrow the gap to 2-1.

Georgina started the period with a 5-3 power play.   We were witnesses to the most impressive display of keep away by Oakville, by one player against Georgina 5 in the Hawks end for a good 30 seconds.    It wasn't until Brit got fed up, stole the puck beside her net and went coast to coast to give the Hawks a 3-1 lead.

A Georgina win by two goals would of eliminated undefeated Oakville from the Tournament. It was looking like that was going to be the case with both teams exchanging chances.

With 3 only minutes remaining the Hawks again were grabbing the sticks too tight and Hornets scored to close the gap again to one.   3-2.

Again the dreaded two goal lead in hockey was erased for the second straight game when Oakville scored with 45 seconds remaining to tie the game 3-3.

A tie was sending Oakville and Georgina to the finals.   Georgina just edging Oakville in the plus minus category to grab Home team honours.

For the second straight game, Oakville have come back to tie Georgina in the last 5 minutes.
