Mini Worlds Tournament Rules

Mini Worlds allows girls the ability to try hockey for the first time, play with a friend or family member they would not normally get the opportunity to play hockey with. Georgina Golden Hawks pride ourselves on this successful annual event. Which allows fair and even playing time regardless of skill level. The older players mentor the younger players to make a fun weekend for all.

RULES:

Bench volunteers will do their best to align like skilled players against each other making the games more even and enjoyable for all.

Penalties will be served as a penalty shot. If a player does not feel comfortable to take the shot then another player who was on the ice at the time of the infraction may take the penalty shot.

1 player may ONLY score a MAXIUM of three (3) goals per game. IF a fourth (4) goal is scored by the same player that goal will be awarded to the opposing team.

Referee’s decision is final.

Any individual(s) who cannot control themselves and act in a respectable fashion towards the players, officials, coaches, tournament officials Town of Georgina Staff, or other tournament spectators will be ejected from the arena. The person(s) ejected from the arena during the tournament must leave immediately and will not be allowed to participate as a spectator for the duration of the tournament.  This decision will be made solely by any GGHA Executive and will not be negotiable once made.

      The GGHA Executive reserves the right to render decisions regarding rule interpretations. All decisions are FINAL.

     GGHA are not responsible for any lost or stolen articles.

Game Information - Length of Games with a 2 min warm-up

      All games are 10/10/12, stop-time. 5 or more goal differential the clock will run in the 3rd.

      All teams will play a minimum of 4 games.

      Teams must be ready to play 15 min prior to game time.

 Divisions

       Junior: 1 pool of 5, each team playing each other once. Top 4 go on to the Finals                              (3rd vs 4th for Bronze. 1st and 2nd for Gold).

       Intermediate: Teams will play a full round robin qualifying crossover game to the other pool. At the conclusion of the round robin. 1st place in each pool will get a bye to the semifinals. 2nd and 3rd will play in their own pool in a quarter final round. 2nd (home), 3rd (visitors).  Semifinals will be 1st in group 1 plays winner of group 1 quarter finals. 1st in group 2 plays winner of group 2 quarter finals. Winners of Semi finals games go on to play for the Gold Metal.

 Senior: 1 pool of 3, play each team twice. Top 2 go on to the Gold medal game.

Determination of Division Winners

Winners will be determined by point system as follows: 2 points for a win, 1 point for a tie and 0 points for a loss.

     Tie Breaker Rules

1.     Head-to-head record between tied teams. (if multiple teams are tied and they have NOT ALL played each other, the head to head tie-breaker cannot be applied. Move to next Team with best record (most wins count first) gains higher position.

2.      GFA percentage of all games played within the Qualifying

3.     Team that scored first goal in their first game of the Tournament.

4.     Coin Toss. 

GFA closest to 1.000 advances. Goals for + Goals against = total goals; GFA = goals for divided by total goals. e.g. 25 + 15 = 40; GFA = 25/40 = .625.

Overtime:

 Overtime will be played ONLY in a Quarter/Semi Final or Championship games. There will be NO change of ends after regulation time.

      Overtime will consist of 3 min 5-on-5 sudden victory overtime period, followed by a 5-person shootout (one at a time)

             If still tied after all 5 shooters, a 1 shooter vs 1 shooter sudden victory will take place.
No player can shoot twice until all willing players have taken a shot.
