Rowan's Law (Georgina Girls Hockey Association)

PrintRowan's Law
In 2018, the Ontario government passed concussion safety legislation designed to protect amateur athletes and educate coaches and parents about the dangers of head injuries.

The bill, Rowan's Law, is in memory of 17 year old Rowan Stringer who died from rugby injuries.

The Ontario government has mandated that effective immediately, all coaches, bench staff and parents/guardians review the Concussion Awareness Resource on an annual basis.  This review is a condition of membership / participation within the Ontario Women's Hockey Association (OWHA).

We ask that you read the attached Concussion Awareness Resource document, including the age appropriate index.
Once you have read the document, print the attached Acknowledgement form, sign and hand in to your team Coach or Manager.

Again, this signed form is now part of the annual registration process and girls will not be allowed to play until this form is handed in.
