In late spring, both the Georgina Girls Hockey
Association (GGHA) and the Central York Girls Hockey Association (CYGHA)
announced a collaboration that is intended to strengthen both
Associations and ensure that female hockey players in Georgina and
Central York have the opportunity to play competitive hockey at all
levels. This is not a merger of the two organizations; it is simply
formalizing an ongoing partnership.
To better understand this partnership, here are some Frequently Asked Questions and Answers:
Does my daughter need a permission to skate form?
A permission to skate form is needed if trying out for a different organization than your most recent team. Players that played for Georgina and want to try out elsewhere, including Central York, require a permission to skate form. Please email [email protected] with the players’ name and which team she played for during the 2018-2019 season for a permission to skate form.
Does this mean that Georgina can only have B level teams?
No, this partnership does not prevent Georgina from having a team at any level if that team is considered to be competitive within that level.
Does this partnership prevent Georgina from having more than one team in the same division?
This partnership does not prevent Georgina from having 2 teams within the same division if there are enough competitive players to have 2 teams (eg. Midget BB and Midget B).
Will players from CYGHA come to Georgina try-outs?
Yes, as in the past Central York players will be attending Georgina try-outs. There are numerous Golden Hawks, that live within the Central York boundaries, that have played for Georgina for many years and continue to return to Georgina.
Does this mean my daughter has to go to CYGHA try-outs?
There is no obligation to try-out with York Central. Players can chose where they want to attend tryouts.
We Welcome everyone to come out & we look forward to seeing you there
