The executive of Georgina Girls Hockey Association have been working hard to develop a plan for the upcoming season. We are moving forward using the parameters set out by OWHA, The Town of Georgina and York Region Public Health.
Based on registration we will have teams in all divisions. The Association will provide the U9 division with one ice time per week with all other divisions being given two ice times per week. All ice times will be at the Ice Palace. Additional ice may be purchased by individual teams.
We are required by OWHA to provide a minimum two weeks of development ice before games can be played. OWHA will inform us when modified game play can begin.
Modified games will be 3 on 3 or 4 on 4 and further directions will be provided by OWHA. Once we receive authorization from OWHA for modified games we will organize teams in each division to play against each other.
We continue to be open to considering other opportunities, including playing games with neighbouring associations, as regulations allow.
Covid-19 protocols, taking into account OWHA and Town of Georgina requirements will be announced. These will be strictly enforced with a zero tolerance policy. Working with the Town we believe we will be allowed 1 parent spectator per player for U11 teams and below.
We have worked hard to keep the cost reasonable and therefore are unable to offer an early bird discount or provide jerseys or socks this year. Players will re-use their jerseys, borrow from the association or purchase a jersey.
Cost of the program from September to December is as follows:
U9 $300
U11 $450
U13, U15 and U18 $550
Registration is still open.
We are working on the payment methods and will advise once available. A payment of $300 will be required by September 22nd with the remaining amount being paid by October 6th.
We will be working to offer a further program for the beginning of 2021 based on restrictions and opportunities at that time.
