Schedule & Results, Midget B, 2016-2017, REP (Georgina Girls Hockey Association)

Midget B hit the ice in tournament play after just one practice. This was an aerial dance between the Hamilton HAWKS and the Georgina Golden HAWKS. Georgina came out skating but the lack of icetime showed with some scrambly play. It was Hamilton that out shot Georgina 7-1 in the first period. Haley had a great back check which gave her a free trip to the sin bin. The penalty kill did its job. The girls played great keeping their opponents attack to the outside. Emily was stellar in net with a fantastic right pad save from point blank that kept the score knotted at 0. In the 2nd Georgina Hawks began to spread their wings and control play. Georgina returned the favour out shooting their opponents 12-1. Paige and Jamie were great on the back check to limit their top players chances. All 4 defence were great at their gap control. It was Alyssa mid second that won the offensive draw then sniped one blocker side for the unassisted marker. Minutes later Haley had one sit on the goal line from a behind the net shot. Then not to be undone Natalie had one scooped off the line when she almost poked the biscuit into the wide open cage. HAWKS held the 1-0 lead with their first goal of the year heading into the third. Things looked promising. In the 3rd the girls began to tire. It was Hamilton that beat our check , came in off the half boards and grabbed the equalizer. 1-1. The teams exchanged chances with Georgina out shooting their opponent 22 to 16. However it was Hamilton with the breakaway in the last minute that again saw Emily come up big. Final score 1-1. I think both teams liked to start their season without the loss. Good game girls. Your a great bunch keep it up. Player of the game - Emily. Nice job Keeps!
