GEORGINA MIDGET B advance to LLFHL round #2

Midget B HAWKS travelled to Scarborough Wednesday Night for a late 10pm playoff game.    Prior to the game the SHARKS were responsible for some unsportsmanlike behaviour that resulted in their coach parading a couple of their girls to our locker room for an apology.   This created an inspired HAWK team.

In period 1 the HAWKS were completely dominant carrying a majority of the play in the offensive zone.    At 4:54 of the first the Hawks were eventually rewarded.

Megan really ground out some puck movement up ice, Brit supported her in the corner, Megan brought the biscuit out to the slot and Emily picked it up and slid it in between the pipes.  1-0 Georgina.

At the end of the first the HAWKS got a 2 minute unsportsmanlike penalty which was then followed by an unfortunate (but not deserved) 10 minute penalty as our player was getting chirped by the opposing bench.  With only 00:19 seconds remaining on the clock Scarborough the equalizer on a power play squeaker.  1-1.

In the second the momentum had shifted a little but the HAWKS still controlled the play without the domination they had in the first.  The HAWKS gave up very little in the way of chances yet still created several.

50 Seconds into the 3rd period Christine fed Megan out of the Georgina Zone.     Megan carried it over the blue and found Brit open for a twine bender and the lead.

The forwards had great examples of forechecking and back checking while our defence remained strong.  HAWKS had several scoring chances that saw the Scarborough net minder turn them away.  Georgina experienced 3 injuries in the third that saw one player leave the ice in the last 5 minutes.  While short handed the lines were jumbled but the girls continued to play sound defensively.

In the last minute of the game SHARKS pulled their goalie and called their time out.   It was obvious the SHARKS elevated their game for the playoffs and took Georgina to 2 close finishes.   However, Georgina remained in control and defeated SHARKS for the second straight game 2-1.

HAWKS now await the winner of North York STORM and Durham West LIGHTNING for their second round matchup. Durham currently leads their series 1-0.
