Clearview "Pink in the Valley" Tournament - CHAMPIONSHIP GAME
Georgina Golden Hawks Midget B won their second Silver Medal in as many tournaments after being defeated by the Flamborough Falcons in the Championship game.
Georgina Golden Hawks went undefeated through the Round Robin games against Stoney Creek (2-1), Kanata Rangers (2-2) and Zorra Fuzion (2-2) in 3 close games. There was no quit in their game tying two of the games in the last minute of play while their goalie was pulled. They then were awarded a bye past the elimination games to the semi finals where they defeated Stoney creek 3-0 and advanced to the Championship game against undefeated Flamborough Flacons. The Falcons had a strong tournament allowing only 1 goal and defeated the Hawks 3-0.
It was apparent the Hawks ran out of steam after 11 games, 2 practices, 4 school days, working and hours of shopping in 9 days. They did however bring home a well deserved silver medal.
The tournament was for breast cancer awareness and the HAWKS supported the cause and decked out in pink. On ice the girls put pink tape over their numbers and around their arms, a pink stripe on the helmet, around their skate blades and on goalie pads. They wore pink laces, pink face paint and put pink tape on their sticks. Pink balloons decorated the bench. Coaches and trainers wore pink shirts, hats with pink tape wrap with pink Georgina logo, pink arm bands and pink Capes. Yup pink capes. Off ice the girls wore pink shirts, pink ribbons on their jackets, some with pink shoes, pink bandanas, pink hats, some feather boas, pink pyjamas, pink hair die, lipstick and a couple in shorts with high pink socks. The room had a pink Georgina crested door magnet and even a couple of the parents cars were decorated.
We are proud of your finish and the spirit you showed as a team to support Breast Cancer Awareness. Thanks for all those that contributed to the fashion the team displayed. Pink ambassador had to be Lauren who wore a different pink outfit everyday including Pajamas and cowboy hat while carrying her 10 year old unnamed large pink monkey.
We would of liked GOLD, we won SILVER but had fun in PINK!
